Designed and tested for all RV and motorhome AC's, SoftStartRv gradually increases the power until the AC compressor is running, creating a very smooth start that reduces the peak current by 50 to 70% or more. An RV rooftop AC @ 16000 BTU with a 120-volt compressor can now start with under 20 amps of current! This will limit the stress put on the motor, compressor, and drive train to extend the life of your AC. It has a built-in start capacitor that controls torque to ensure smoother starts and stops. This will eliminate trailer shaking and the loud, clunking start-up noise from your compressor. Best of all, it won't jolt you awake in the middle of the night!! 3 Diagnostic LED lights on the front show operation status, and will alert you to potential faults. The controller has an integrated bypass contractor that is integral in prevention of overheating also. You'll need ONE SoftStartRV Advanced Soft Starter controller per AC unit. Run 1 AC unit on a 20-amp household hookup or run 2 AC units on a 30-amp hookup (*DON'T FORGET the second AC requires it's own soft starter). Using the SoftStartRV Advanced Soft Starter allows you to run your AC on a 20-amp hook-up simultaneously with small appliances such as your electric water heater, coffee maker, and other appliances!
